Who are we hiring? 

Use the power of our brand, players and the hockey experience to grow the next generation of Rangers fans by igniting and fueling a lifelong passion for the game amongst kids. The Hockey Program Instructor is responsible for growing the game of hockey throughout the tri-state area by building awareness for the programs and championing the Junior Rangers message to the community overall. The position will be responsible for maintaining the programs gold standard while providing top level instruction. This is a part time seasonal position.

We are looking for individuals who are able to work in any of the following regions. Candidates must have their own transportation to be able to travel to/from the respective locations for our camps/clinics:

  • Connecticut
  • Hudson Valley/Westchester
  • Upstate New York
  • Long Island
  • New York City

What will you do?

  • Responsible kids ages 4-14 at any one time while ensuring the safety of each individual
  • Promotional
    • Keep all NYR branding and promotional materials current through the entire season as brand messaging or programs turnover
    • Must meet registration, conversion and retention goals for assigned programs
    • Reach new audiences by engaging the local community
    • Maintain a professional appearance daily and represent the values of MSG in the most professional way possible at all times
  • On-Ice
    • Structure and execute on-ice lesson plan in conjunction with USA Hockey’s American Development Model
    • Assist in the organization and preparation of activities
    • Create fun and engaging atmosphere for all participants within the respective NYR Rink Partner locations
    • Work with partners and NYR front office to ensure all supplies are on-site to operate the proper lesson plans
  • Key Relationships
    • Maintain recommendations, feedback and regular updates with NYR Admin
    • Build relationships with NYR Rink Partner’s key contacts via GM, Hockey Directors, Staff and Coaches.
    • Become the first point of contact for participating families within the respective program or location through both on-site presence and additional touchpoints remotely
  • Must be punctual for all events, training sessions and other necessary work functions
  • Provide direction and oversight to the assistant instructors in cooperation with the on-site event manager when applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

What do you need to succeed?

  • The ideal candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a minimum of 5 years previous coaching or playing experience with strong knowledge of teaching the basics of hockey.
  • Must be enthusiastic and energetic while interacting with all peers, parents and participants
  • Applicants must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate a strong passion for teaching the game through prior work experience
  • Must possess the ability to command the attention and respect from both players and assistant instructors
  • A successful individual must demonstrate the necessary skills to plan and execute a high-quality practice through previous work experience with a team, clinic or camp
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet overall goals for NYR grassroots programming through previous marketing or event experience.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the tri-state area and have their own transportation

Hourly Pay Range
$22$22 USD
