Who are we hiring?

The Director Business Solutions will manage a small team that leads the creation of platforms, inventory and ideation across MSG and Entertainment properties.  

The Director, Business Solutions will work closely with the VP, Business Solutions, SVP Sales and SVP Partner Success to define the strategic sales plan around each of the teams.  S/he will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead creation of platforms for prospective partners (new business) and current partners (upsells and renewals) through: ongoing communications with league (NHL/NBA/G-League) contacts, team relationships, MSG Network relationships, research (identify industry leaders, best practices, emerging technologies), platform development (idea generation, team marketing collaboration and proposal construction), rate card creation (pricing/P&L development),revenue maximization across assets, internal vetting (Division approvals), creative presentations (write sales deck outlines, collaborate with design team to bring vision to life) and inventory management.  Efforts will be focused on all team inventory and strategies designed to maximize revenue streams for individual properties and the organization globally. 

 

What will you do?

  • Conduct consistent meetings with their direct reports to ensure all work is being prioritized, solutions are being provided for Sales/Service teams and new sales materials are being created as needed 
  • Maintain direct relationship with all MSG stakeholders to be aware of business initiatives
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of all MSG properties and assets/rights granted by MSG; becoming everyone’s ‘go-to’ as the in-house ‘expert’ 
  • Oversee creation of all sales materials and inventory management
  • Lead partnership development process from brainstorm through account management transition, working closely with sales and service teams and internal/external stakeholders, including league contacts 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders and key league (NHL/NBA) contacts and industry relationships to be top of mind during strategy planning 
  • Fully understand MSG Networks platforms, potential cross platform opportunities and develop working relationship with MSG Network stakeholders 
  • Proactively identify new assets and build creative turnkey platforms to generate new revenue opportunities 
  • Revenue maximization through creation of asset rate card, pricing and P&L development 
  • Manage sales materials through their team ranging from upfronts and evergreens to full decks and compressed 1-pagers 
  • Oversee available inventory, track sold inventory, deadlines, property assets, designations and promotional rights granted by MSG 
  • Collaborate with account management to develop case studies across properties and industries 
  • Lead weekly meetings with internal stakeholders, providing robust agendas, carrying conversation and discussion items and following up with next steps/deadlines 
  • Participate in sales presentations, as needed.   

 

 

What do you need to succeed?

  • BA/BS Degree required; MBA preferred 
  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic marketing/sponsorship sales strategy, brand consulting to agency roles; a strong candidate for the role should have knowledge of the marketing and advertising industries with a particular focus on the sports and entertainment industry 
  • Passion for the sports and entertainment space, maintaining knowledge of sports/entertainment trends 
  • Demonstrated exceptional project management skills to drive the process with the ability to create partnerships (vet and price, develop P&L and execute platforms); create sales material outlines, and develop strategy 
  • This position requires an experienced thinker with strong, writing, organizational, analytical and presentation skills, with the ability to simultaneously understand Divisional and Client objectives 
  • S/he must have demonstrated experience and success working with a broad cross section of functional teams. The individual must be able to deal professionally with all levels of people including internal senior management, sales persons, and marketing executives across the organization.  
  • Strong work ethic with ability to function independently while managing upwards to keep supervisor informed 
  • Proven ability to excel while multitasking in fast paced environment 
  • Excellent time management with ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to deliver exceptional work while hitting deadlines 
  • Ability and skill-set to communicate directly with NHL and NBA league officials 
  • Strong creative and innovative mindset with analytical skills 
  • Highly detail-oriented and exercises solutions-focused approach

Pay Range
$150,000$195,000 USD
