Who are we hiring?
The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the operational accounting group supporting the daily processes and the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities. This position provides on-going financial support to the company’s various product groups, particularly Global Partnerships.
What will you do?
· Provide timely and detailed monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss account analyses and reconciliations as assigned
· Assist with completion of monthly closes, including but not limited to monthly calculation and preparation of journal entries
· Assist with preparation of internal and external audit deliverables for successful completion of interim and year end testing.
· Assist with preparation of schedules utilized by the external reporting team to prepare 10-K / 10-Q footnotes.
· Assist with the preparation of sponsorship deal detailed invoicing packets, which may include interaction with related parties, MSG Sports and Sphere Entertainment.
· Assist with the preparation of payments to multiple external and related party entities.
· Assist with proper maintenance of records such as monthly close journal entry backup, journal entry listings and signed off checklists.
· Recommend company-wide utilization of financial systems and digital technologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of reporting.
· Support accounting group day-to-day activities and complete special projects in an accurate and timely manner
What do you need to succeed?
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
· CPA license preferred.
· Minimum 2+ years public accounting experience
· In-depth knowledge of the revenue recognition rules under U.S. GAAP (ASC 606).
· Strong understanding of monthly closing processes.
· Strong understanding of financial statements, account analyses and reconciliations.
· Experience with internal control over financial reporting in connection with an audit performed under the standards of the PCAOB.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Ability to work independently to identify and raise potential issues along with proposed solutions.
· Proficient in Excel spreadsheet modeling along with all MS Office platforms (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel).
· Effective written and oral communications skills.
· Ability to be flexible, work under pressure within a team environment.
