Who are we hiring?

The Associate Data Platform Engineer will report to the Director, Data Platforms and will be responsible for supporting, enhancing, and maintaining Madison Square Garden Company’s advanced big data platforms used for both analytics and for the integration of business and customer-facing applications. The Associate Data Platform Engineer will have the opportunity to work with data that spans all of MSG’s business units and includes metrics for the Knicks, Rangers, Rockettes, and concerts held in The Madison Square Garden Company’s iconic venues. The Associate Data Platform Engineer will work closely with both Data Platform Engineers and Sr Data Platform Engineers supporting the development of solutions that establish MSG as a leader in the use of data to drive outstanding business performance by making actionable insights available when and where they add the most value.

What will you do? 

  • Support, maintain, and optimize components of MSG enterprise data architecture required to meet the analytics and production data needs of the business using a range of tools including Python, SQL, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, among others.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and Business Intelligence (BI) developers to provide analysis and answers to complex business questions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enhancements to core data warehouse applications as requested by our business partners.
  • Develop and maintain ETL required to populate dimensional data models.
  • Utilize cloud-based services to research and respond to complex data inquiries and adhoc data analysis as requested.
  • Triage and resolve issues across all areas of MSG's data solutions.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • 1-2 years’ experience with ETL, SQL coding plus working knowledge of Big Data solutions and noSQL databases.
  • 1-2 years’ experience or conceptual understating of Python programming language with data concepts
  • Conceptual understanding of cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Working knowledge with ETL tools & IDE a plus
  • DBT knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • High level of enthusiasm for building innovative data solutions

Pay Range
$83,000$120,000 USD
