Senior Director DevOps & Cloud Engineering

Who are we hiring?

The Senior Director DevOps & Cloud Engineering leads our cloud engineering standards and automation strategy for the organization while delivering an enterprise class ‘platform as a service’ catalog inclusive of database, application, and middleware services. The Senior Director is primarily responsible for setting the standards, practices and business process around the automation and development engineering practices and pipelines, as well as the sustainment of all continuous delivery and continuous integration capabilities. The Senior Director is expected to be a disruptive force in the business identifying processes and systems that would benefit from rethinking the way MSG scales our applications and workflows while simultaneously developing the roadmap to evolve past current DevOps standards to NoOps and beyond, leveraging emerging technologies including but not limited to AI. Lastly, this leader manages a team of highly skilled devops engineers who align closely with the application development and enterprise architecture teams along with Agile processes. 

What will you do? 

  • Lead the organization's cloud and DevOps strategy, ensuring successful delivery of complex technical solutions across our operating companies
  • Develop and implement the organization's cloud and DevOps strategy to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives
  • Lead and manage the Cloud and DevOps Delivery team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members
  • Manage expenses to budget and always focus on optimizing the portfolio for streamlined operation
  • Oversee the successful delivery of complex technical solutions, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery
  • Lead automation efforts wherever possible to constantly look for efficiencies for cloud engineering, application engineering and quality engineering
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices for cloud and DevOps processes and tools
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders including engineering, qa, Information Security, system administration, networking, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with security and data privacy protocols for all cloud and DevOps projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing strategic guidance on cloud and DevOps solutions
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators and metrics for the Cloud and DevOps Delivery team, making adjustments and improvements as needed
  • Drive innovation within the organization by promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement in cloud and DevOps practices
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in cloud and DevOps technologies, and make recommendations for their integration into the organization's strategy

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related technical field. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of Technology leadership experience preferably at a Fortune 500 company
  • 10+ years in a hands-on technical engineering or development role – this role will require hands-on work
  • Excellent people management and leadership capabilities and ability to effectively prioritize, execute, and delegate tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Direct management of cross functional, sourced, or matrixed teams specially working with outsourced suppliers
  • 8+ years working with public cloud services providers specifically AWS – as a consumption of platform services and automation and scaling of services
  • Experience with advanced platform-based technologies – docker, Kubernetes, cloud foundry and Jenkins as an example
  • Ability to manage a budget and have a focus on optimization
  • Deep understanding of IT financial structures and ability to manage to corporate financial practices and goals, including drivers of process cost
  • Experience working with a wide range of open-source tools and distribution engines
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale initiatives/transformations
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure automation, instrumentation, and fulfillment technologies
  • Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills
  • Knowledge of business environment, service requirements and media entertainment culture preferred
  • Experience developing complex global distributed software solutions residing within multiple country borders (specifically EU and APAC) preferred
  • Experience working on global projects and with globally distributed teams preferred

Special Requirements

  • Periodic travel to NYC, Burbank and Las Vegas as business needs arise
  • Ability to regularly work non-traditional work hours to meet the needs of our globally distributed organization
