Who are we hiring? 

The Director of Custodial Services is responsible for the planning and execution of all custodial cleaning operations and employee management. The Director will interface with the MSG Operations, F&B and Production Departments to ensure that the Venues Division is providing the highest level of service while prioritizing daily event needs and orchestrating activities to maximize labor productivity. The position collaborates with internal and external clients to minimize expenses. The scope of this position encompasses a 3 shift, 24-hour, 7 day a week operation with the transition of numerous concurrent daily events, union work rules and jurisdictions.


What will you do?

  • Supervise admin staff & union trades for post event building interior and exterior cleaning maintaining a world class environment. Plan and organize work in an efficient, cost-effective manner, while seeking highest level of service to guests, clients and other building occupants.
  • Manage the cleaning material and supply inventory as well as restroom consumables. Track spending against budget.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs for all building related cleaning equipment (ride-on/walk behind scrubbers, carpet extractors, floor buffers, steamers, power washers etc..). Engage outside vendors as necessary to make required repairs.
  • Continuously evaluate best practice of cleaning services ensuring the highest client satisfaction and guest experience of a world class facility.
  • Track costs against budget for general cleaning & maintenance and event related cleaning labor.
  • Schedule & Direct FT & PT union cleaning workforce of over 150.
  • Oversee daily administrative tasks within the department.
  • Responsible for managing third party contractors such as pest control and glass cleaning.
  • Maintain elevated level of responsiveness to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Manages building mechanical equipment. Hire contractors and vendors for maintenance and repairs as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7-10 years of Facility Management experience dealing with multiple events in a time sensitive environment.
  • Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
  • Progressive experience in Facilities Management and Event Production with direct responsibility for supervising back of house operating functions with an emphasis on Building Maintenance and Operations.
  • Commitment to providing a high-quality service experience for both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines and financial constraints.
  • Ability to compile and execute company and departmental standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Experience Managing a highly unionized workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to pan for, develop, analyze and manage expenses to a budget.
  • Proficient with Windows, PC, Windows.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24-hours, 7 days a week environment.

$113,000$170,000 USD
