Who are we hiring?
The Director of Live will be responsible for contributing to strategic initiatives across the Live division at MSG. Booking responsibilities will include residencies, touring shows, marquee events, and special projects at the Chicago Theatre. This role will be responsible for all aspects of the booking process, including identifying artists and events, coordinating with internal departments, working with promoter and industry clients, suggesting proper scaling, assisting with the creation of show estimates, budgets and forecasts, and overseeing the final settlement process for events. This role will also focus on strategy, project management and operations and requires a high level of attention to detail, prompt and clear communication skills, teamwork focus, analytical problem-solving ability, and an orientation toward execution. This position will be a dependable, highly efficient, and reliable problem-solver who is comfortable navigating new and / or time-sensitive situations and exercising discretion related to confidential materials and company information.
What will you do?
- Project manage tasks from ideation to execution.
- Maintain & update active event files, tracking progress of estimates, contracts, insurance, ticket sales, and production logistics.
- Work cross functionally with Live bookings team, Marquee Events, Marketing, Partnerships, finance, legal, PR and other internal MSGE stakeholders.
- Facilitate communications between MSGE and Promoters of events, including production-related needs and issues, and ancillary/sponsor needs.
- Manage and oversee financial settlements in coordination with the operations and finance teams on the night of each event.
- Manage post-event communication, correspondence and team debriefings as needed.
- Develop and maintain high-level artist and brand relationships across all industries and categories. Must have deep relationships across all music genres.

- Manage production costs and maximize event Attend P&L meetings with Facilities and Finance.
- Responsible for developing and implementing top business initiatives by ensuring successful planning, execution & roll-out to accelerate growth and efficiencies across the Live organization.
- Regularly conduct external research on a variety of topics and stay current on related industry and marketplace trends.
- Implement short and long-term programs and processes to optimize department workflow.
- Organize and facilitate meetings as necessary (e.g., creating agendas, taking notes and action items, drafting correspondence, and following up to see action items through to completion).
- Serve as a liaison to cross-functional groups across the entire company.
- Compile, author, and edit briefing materials and build presentations as requested.
What do you need to succeed?
- 6-8 years’ experience booking and managing a venue event calendar
- Extensive knowledge of all music, comedy and entertainment genres
- Extensive knowledge of and visibility within the artist/agent/manager community
- Strong marketing background and creative resources
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Ability to multi-task various projects while working with cross-functional teams
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to be highly organized and to oversee several projects at the same time
- Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
